BJJ gis don't follow standard clothing sizes. Use this guide to find your fit. If you're still unsure, get in touch and we'll help you choose.
Find your size
- Find your height and weight in the chart below. Height sets sleeve and trouser length. Weight sets chest and waist.
- Between two sizes? Size up. Your gi will shrink slightly over its first few washes (less than 5% when washed cold and hung dry).
- Check the fit options. Tall for your weight? Choose L. Broad for your height? Choose H.
L and H fits
Same width as the base size. Longer sleeves, jacket and trousers. For taller, leaner builds.
Same length as the base size. More room in the chest, waist and hips. For broader, heavier builds.

Chest, waist and hips are measured flat across the garment, so double them for the full measurement. Allow ±2cm in all areas.
How we measure
- Wingspan
- Sleeve end to sleeve end, with the jacket laid flat and the arms straight out.
- Jacket length
- From the top of the collar at the back to the bottom hem.
- Chest
- Straight across, just below the armpits, laid flat.
- Waist and hips
- Straight across the trousers, laid flat.
- Trouser length
- From the top of the waistband to the hem.
Keep the fit
- Wash cold
- Hang dry
- Never tumble dry
Cared for this way, your gi will shrink by less than 5%. Heat is what shrinks cotton, so hot washes and tumble dryers will take it beyond that.
Relic Belt sizing
Choose the same size as your gi. A0 gis take an A1 belt, and A5 gis take an A4 belt.
| Belt size | Length (cm) | Fits gi sizes |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | 260 | A0, A1, A1L |
| A2 | 285 | A2, A2L, A2H |
| A3 | 309 | A3, A3L, A3H |
| A4 | 336 | A4, A5 |
